# List conversations or get one

> Without `id`: your 40 most recent conversations in the project. With `id`: that conversation's messages. Only your own conversations are ever returned. Transcripts are stored masked, so reopened conversations show placeholders such as `[EMAIL_01]` where the live chat showed the value. Returns `{ conversations }` or `{ messages }`, not the `{ data }` envelope.

**Auth:** session. **Permission:** member of the organization and project.
