Starting a new chat
Click New chat at the top of the sidebar. The conversation area clears and the home screen returns. If an answer was still streaming, it keeps running on the server and is saved to history, but it stops appearing on screen. A conversation gets its ID when its first answer finishes. Until then it does not appear in the sidebar. The history list
Below the navigation, the sidebar lists your conversations for the current project, newest first, grouped by when they were last active:- The list shows your 40 most recent conversations in the project.
- The conversation you are viewing is highlighted.
- Long titles are cut off; hover a title to see it in full.
- With no history yet, the list says No conversations yet.
- The list refreshes automatically after each answer finishes.
Titles
A conversation is named after its first message. ModelHub asks a small model for a 2 to 5 word title in title case, written from the masked version of your first message, so the title never contains the personal data that was removed. If that model is unavailable, the title is the first line of your first message, cut to 48 characters with an ellipsis. An empty first line becomes “New chat”.Reopening a conversation
Click a conversation in the sidebar. ModelHub loads it and shows a short loading skeleton while it does. You can then continue it as normal. Reopened conversations differ from live ones in two ways:- Personal details show as placeholders. ModelHub never saves the real values it masked. A banner at the top says “Reopened from history — personal details were removed before saving and show as placeholders.” This is the privacy design, not a display bug.
- The routing signal bars are empty. Each answer’s report card still shows its cost, verdict, privacy counts and token usage, but the per-signal breakdown under Details is only kept for live answers.
Links and tabs
The address bar carries the open conversation as?c= followed by its ID, so you can bookmark or reload a conversation. ModelHub also remembers the open conversation for the current browser tab; if you navigate to AI Usage and back, you return to it.
Opening a conversation link that belongs to a different project, or that no longer exists, starts a fresh chat instead.
Who can see your conversations
- Only you can list or reopen your conversations. The history is filtered to your own account on the server, so changing a URL cannot show you a colleague’s chats.
- Your organization’s administrators do not get a transcript viewer. They see aggregate usage and, on the organization-wide usage dashboard, the types and values of personal data that were removed from messages. See Privacy screening.
- If end-to-end encryption is on, the text of new conversations is encrypted to you and your organization’s super admins. See Settings and profile.
Projects and organizations
History is kept per project. Switching project or organization in the header gives you that project’s history and a fresh chat. The model choice and the Optimise switch reset when you switch. What is not available yet
